Lil Wayne Says He's 'Good' Following Confusing Retirement Tweets

Lil Wayne says he's "good" following a series of confusing tweets early Saturday (Sept. 3) morning that many perceived to hint at his possible retirement from music.
"I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I'm dun," Wayne posted around 4 a.m. EST.
A couple hours later, he followed up, saying he wasn't looking for "sympathy, just just serenity" and then later that he was good, "don't trip."

The meaning behind Weezy's messages is unclear, but given the hip-hop icon's recent issues with his health and Cash Money record label, they have led many to wonder whether this was an announcement of his retirement. And though his last message seems to resolve things, it fails to provide any further explanation.
Billboard has reached out to Wayne's camp for comment but did not hear back at time of publishing.
Wayne has suffered from seizures since 2012, with a number of attacks coming this summer. This comes amidst an almost two year battle with his record label Cash Money to put out his reported final album Tha Carter V or release him from his contract.
Amidst Wayne's tweets, one fan reached out to Rick Ross online asking him to buy out Wayne's contract. He responded, saying to get Cash Money label head Birdman on the phone.
A number of other artists replied directly to Wayne's distressed tweets, as Pitchfork points out, including Missy Elliott, Chance the Rapper, Flying Lotus and more.

Drake Says He's Been 'In Love' with Rihanna Since He Was 22

Drake ran into some traffic on the way to the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, but he made it to the ceremony in time to give Rihanna the VMAs Video Vanguard Award.
Walking on stage after Rihanna performed for the final time of the night, Drake -- dressed in a tuxedo -- praised the singer for never changing, and said he had been "in love" with her since he was 22 years old.
"The first time I met Robyn Fenty [Rihanna's real name] was in 2005," Drake said. "She was shooting a music video at a restaurant called Avocado in Toronto. The song was 'Pon de Replay' and the director was Little X. I was introduced to her... It's hard to believe that 11 years later we'd come together to create the visual for a song called 'Work.' Today the world knows X as Director X... 11 years later, they still know Rihanna as the one and only Rihanna."
Calling her captivating, Drake touted Rihanna's "untouchable" level of performance and style, adding, "She succeeds by doing something which no one in this industry does, which is be herself."
"She's someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old," Drake said. "She's one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life i've looked up to her even though she's younger than me." 
In accepting the award, Rihanna thanked MTV for the honor, and said her success is "not my own."
"It's my family's, it's my fans, it's my country's, it's the Caribbean as a whole, it's women, it's black women... so many people feel like their little piece is such a major part of this puzzle and i have to thank you guys for supporting me over and over," she said. Rihanna thanked her host of collaborators over the years, and also Drake.
"Thank you, Drake, for that," she said. "Thank you MTV. I had so much fun!"

'I'm devastated'- Japanese pole vaulter who got struck on 'erect' penis blasts foreign media after he's ridiculed (photos/video)

Japanese Pole Vaulter at Rio 2016, Hiroki Ogita has hit back on Twitter at the jests and criticism he's received after his seemingly 'erect' penis and leg hit the bar at 17 feet, 4 inches leading to his disqualification from the men's pole vault competition on Monday.

The video quickly spread online with most people on social media joking that he would have qualified if his erect penis hadn't gotten in the way. The athlete has fired back on Twitter.

 

 

"I never expected the foreign media to take me down like this," the 28-year-old athlete tweeted in Japanese. "It's one thing if it was true, but I have to say I'm pretty devastated that they'd go so far to make something up to mock and ridicule me so much."

"To be honest, it's pretty rough, but I guess I'm in the spotlight so this might be some kind of opportunity. I'll do my best and get the results so that I get the last laugh," he wrote.

 

"It doesn't matter if you do it for a joke or whatever, I ask you to go and watch an actual game at a stadium for once. I hope you appreciate, even a bit, what a great sport pole vaulting is."

 

He eventually tweeted that he was able to see the funny side of the whole episode: "Watching again, this is pretty funny, if I say so myself. LOL."

"He had already pressed on the crossbar so much," pole vaulting coach David Yeo said in Singapore.

"The crossbar was bound to dislodge. I think it was just the crumpling of the fabric which happened at the wrong position."

 

Mr Ogita did clear the bar on his second attempt but as he only managed a height of 5.45m on his final jump, the earlier foul cost him. He finished too far down the field to progress through the qualifying stage.
