 Will Smith's father, Willard Carroll Smith, Sr. has died.
The 48-year-old actor's ex-wife, Sheree Fletcher, shared the news on Instagram on Monday.
"We're gonna miss you Daddio!" wrote Fletcher in a heartfelt tribute. "You lived & played by your own rules...you truly were 1 of a kind! You instilled discipline, and a work ethic that has created a legacy in your honor! In her touching Instagram post, Fletcher shared a throwback snap of Trey with his father and grandfather.
"Dad was tough but not tyrannical," Smith reportedly once told Essence magazine. "He kept me in line. He'd get this look that said, 'One more step, Will, and it'll get ugly.' He was an independent businessman -- he set up refrigeration in supermarkets -- and he always provided for us. He's a steady and positive figure in my life."

10-year-old boy beaten to death by his father in Ogun State

    Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested 37-year-old Razak Adekoya for beating his 10 year-old son to death. Spokesman of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident said that the deceased, Waris, was subjected to beating by his father over allegation of stealing.
    Preliminary investigation revealed several marks on the body of the boy as a result of series of torture he suffered.
    Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested by policemen attached to Ago-Iwoye Division, following a tip off from members of the community.
    The remains of the boy have been deposited at St. Joseph Catholic Hospital Mortuary, Oke-Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo for autopsy.
    According to The Nigerian Tribune, the state Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu ordered that the suspect be transferred to Homicide Section of Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department, Eleweran Abeokuta for further investigation.

Thai king death: Thousands mourn at royal palace

   Thousands of Thais have gathered at Bangkok's royal palace for late-night vigils to mourn King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died on Thursday.

   His body was brought to the palace in a convoy as mourners lined the streets weeping. Millions watched live on TV.
   Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn has been named as successor, but has asked for a delay in the process. A regent has been appointed.
   King Bhumibol was the world's longest-reigning monarch.He had been ill for a long time and died on Thursday. Official mourning will last a year.
   The cabinet declared Friday a government holiday, and flags are to fly at half-mast for the next 30 days.
People have been asked to wear black, and avoid "joyful events" during this period. Cinema screenings, concerts and sports events have been cancelled or postponed.
   News websites have turned their pages black and white. All television channels in Thailand aired state media programmes including live coverage of the day's events.
 The crown prince travelled in the convoy carrying the king's body to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in the Royal Palace.
  "We no longer have him," AFP news agency quoted Phongsri Chompoonuch, 77, one of those who lined the streets for the procession, as saying.
  "I don't know whether I can accept that. I fear, because I don't know what will come next."
After the convoy arrived at the temple, the crown prince conducted the bathing ceremony of the king's body, a traditional Thai Buddhist funeral rite.
  Buddhist monks then said prayers over the king's remains. His body will be on display for people to pay their respects.

  Thousands of people have now gathered at the palace complex.
  It could be months before the late king's cremation.
  King Bhumibol earned the devotion of Thais for his efforts to help the rural poor, including agricultural development projects and works of charity.
  The monarch was also seen as a stabilising figure in a country often wracked by political turmoil.
Thailand remains under military rule following a coup in 2014.
 The country has suffered from political violence and upheaval over the past decade, as well as a long-running Muslim separatist insurgency in the southern provinces which sees regular small-scale bomb attacks.
  Though a constitutional monarch with limited official powers, many Thais looked to King Bhumibol to intervene in times of high tension. He was seen as a unifying and calming influence through numerous coups and 20 constitutions.
  However, his critics argued he had endorsed military takeovers and at times had failed to speak out against human rights abuses.

Judge Rules Nick Gordon 'Legally Responsible' in Bobbi Kristina Brown's Death, Lawyer Says

  Just over a year after Bobbi Kristina Brown died at the age of 22, her boyfriend Nick Gordon has been found civilly liable in her death, reported 11 Alive.
  Gordon failed to appear – for the second time – in Atlanta, Georgia, court Friday morning in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by Bobbi Kristina's estate last year, Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford said.
  Because Gordon has failed to appear twice, the judge said anything alleged by the plaintiff is admitted through omission.
  The judge will now determine the amount of damages to be awarded to Bobbi Kristina's estate. The suit asked for $50,000,000.
 "In court today, we finally finished a long journey for justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown," Bobbi Kristina's attorney R. David Ware told 11 Alive outside of court. "The court agrees with us, by striking Mr. Gordon's answer that he is legally responsible for her death. The only thing left to prove is the value of her life. We intend to do that."
 In a statement to PEOPLE, the Brown family said, "We are praising God. This has been a long time coming. But all the judgments in the world won't bring Krissy back."
"We miss her every single day," the statement continued. "Even when there's justice, it's not comfort. She was gone too soon, and we all have to live with that. I hope Nick lives with it every day for the rest of his life, because we sure are."

  Bobbi Kristina, the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, was found unresponsive in the bathtub of her home on Jan. 31, 2015. After six months of medically induced comas and a hospice stay, the rising star passed away on July 26.
  Gordon has never been criminally charged in Brown's death, but a source in the Fulton County District Attorney's office tells PEOPLE that the criminal investigation is "still ongoing."
  "This won't change anything in the criminal case. Generally speaking, it tends to the other way around: a criminal conviction is used in a civil case," the source explains. "Obviously, if he had taken the stand in a civil case, we could have used what he said. But that's not what happened here. The case is still ongoing, but there are no new updates at this time."
  Brown's court-appointed conservator alleged that "Ms. Brown died due to a violent altercation with Defendant (Gordon) after which he placed her in a bathtub, unconscious, after he injected her with a toxic mixture," according to legal documents related to the suit, which were obtained by local Atlanta affiliate WSB-TV.
  According to the complaint – which was co-signed by Bobby – Gordon and Bobbi Kristina "became embroiled in a large argument" the night of the January incident, before he allegedly gave her a "toxic cocktail" that rendered her unconscious. Bobbi Kristina's conservator further claims that Gordon then put Bobbi Kristina face down in a tub of cold water.

  In response to the civil suit, Gordon's former attorney Jose Baez initially said, "We have repeatedly said that Nick Gordon is innocent of any wrongdoing. He has not been charged with any crime. Enough is enough; let's end this baseless speculation."
  Despite Gordon's adamance that he wasn't involved, Bobby said during a recent 20/20 interview, "The same thing that happened to my daughter is what happened to Whitney."
  He charged, "There's only one person that was around both occasions."

Mia Ayliffe-Chung: 'Infectiously happy' British backpacker stabbed to death by knifeman 'shouting Allahu Akbar' in hostel rampage

A young British backpacker who was stabbed to death as a knifeman went on a rampage at an Australian hostel was "infectiously happy", friends said today.
Mia Ayliffe-Chung, 21, was knifed in a frenzied attack in front of more than 30 people by a man who was allegedly shouting "Allahu Akbar" in Queensland.
A 31-year-old British man was also left fighting for his life and a dog was stabbed to death at Shelly’s Backpackers in the small town of Home Hill, south of Townsville.
A 29-year-old French man is now in police custody over the killing.

A third man, who intervened, was also stabbed in the leg but his wounds were not life-threatening and he was released from hospital following the attack last night.
Police are investigating whether the arrested man – who had been in the country for several months – has anylink to terror organisations.

Ms Ayliffe-Chung, who worked at The Bedroom nightclub, in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, had been in the area for 10 days and was planning to find work as a fruit picker.
Staff at the venue told local media she was intent on returning to the bar after carrying out a required three-month fruit-picking stint in Home Hill so she could extend her holiday visa.
Ms Ayliffe-Chung, originally from Wirksworth in Derbyshire, was described by friends and colleagues as “full of energy” and “an infectiously happy young girl”.
Close friend Kyle Godwin wrote on Facebook: “Today the world has lost one of the most beautiful young women to ever walk this planet.
“Today I lost a best friend. A girl like no other, one of the happiest, full of energy, delightful, energetic and hilarious girl I've come across.
“Even though I've only known you for a short amount of time it feels like we have been best friends for years, we just seemingly clicked and were like two peas in a pod.
Another friend Rowan Clark said: “Mia was an infectiously happy, young girl, and will be missed dearly.”

Hannah Weisskopf-Biggs described Ms Ayliffe-Chung as “a beautiful and soulful girl”.
Writing on Facebook, she said: “Just can't believe it. Mia Ayliffe-chung was too young and such a beautiful & soulful girl. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.”
Monique Cross, an Australian friend of Miss Ayliffe-Chung, said: "She was a gorgeous person. It's an awful tragedy - I can't believe it."
Tom Paenga wrote on Facebook: "R.I.P Mia. I know that I will not find someone like you again, so happy, so motivating, in good times and in bad times always you were drawing a smile..."
On her Facebook page, Ms Ayliffe-Chung had shared pictures and videos of her time in Queensland, including selfies after long days of farm work and of her time spent working in the nightclub.

She is said to have studied psychology and childcare in the UK.
Supt Ray Rohweder said police were confronted by a “terrible scene” when they arrived at the hostel after the attack at 11.15pm.

Two officers ordered the attacker, who had injuries to his arms, to lay on the ground and grabbed the knife he used in the attack.

Queensland state Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Golleschewski told reporters: “Initial inquiries indicate that comments which may be construed as being of an extremist nature were made by the alleged offender..
“We’ve had three people stabbed, one deceased, one critically injured. It’s a shocking attack by any standards.”

The arrested man, who has been in Australia on a temporary visa since March, was also caught on police body camera shouting ‘Allah Akbar” as he was taken into custody.
The man was taken to Townsville Hospital to be assessed for mental health and drug issues as anti-terror police began their investigation into the horrific crime.
No charges have yet been laid.
