The Game Takes Listeners Back to '1992' on New Album: Listen

   The Documentary 2  (which hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200) last year, from announcing the new mobile app game Block Wars and dropping a soundtrack album of the same name, to exchanging diss tracks with Meek Mill in their on-going feud. Back with his newest studio album --1992, which he released on Fri. (Oct. 14) -- The Game delivers a 13-track experience that uncovers the highs and lows of the Compton MC's life during that year.
The Game has kept quite the busy schedule since releasing
    The cover art for the album shows a young man in a tug-of-war battle, with men on one side dressed in blue, and the other side dressed in red, a battle The Game faced during his younger days growing up in the city of Compton. "Ask yourself: What color is the flag?", a voice says in the beginning of "True Colors/It's On." "Think about it! We picked red and blue. What's left? White. Damn right, n---a. We killing each other, homie."
    The album only hosts one feature, from Jeremih, on the bonus track "All Eyez". 1992 also reveals The Wu-Tang Clan as an early influence on The Game ("I Grew Up On Wu-Tang"), and references the 2Pac-starring '92 crime film Juice, which followed a group of Harlem teens growing up around violence, and the daily struggles they face -- an apparent theme on The Game's latest LP.

‘There Are Major Collaborations On My Album, But It Won’t Be Dropping This Year’ – Davido

  Singer Davido, who recently dropped a new song, ‘Gbagbe Oshi’ two days ago following an eleven months music drought, has opened up on his reasons for the hiatus.
The Sony Music act, in an interview with Thenet.ng, not only spoke about his Sony music deal, he also put to rest rumors about the label behind his delayed comeback.

Let’s talk about the Sony deal; Do you think you signed the deal at the right time?

 I won’t say I signed it at the wrong time, I signed it at the right time actually.

So why did it take you 11 months to drop a song?

 Adele takes 5 years, there are people who take break for 2 years, but here we are used to dropping songs every 3 months, it got to a point I knew I just had to find myself again.

So do you blame yourself or Sony for the 11-month drought?

 Don’t forget during this 1-months period, I did feature on over 24 songs. And it would have been different if I was dropping songs and they didn’t pop.

At the beginning of this year,m my focus was to pop out international collaborations but then things change and regardless I kept on recording and making new sounds

And as at August, they gave me a date and we planned to drop the record with Tinashe but then I was like why don’t you let me do my own African thing and drop the Tinashe record afterwards.

Tell us about your new song ‘Gbagbe Oshi’

 Gbagbe oshi was one of the songs that was supposed to be on the album, we recorded it last year.

And when  they (Sony) heard it, they really liked it. I like it too, I love the drive.

After the EP, when is the main album dropping?

 I can’t say for now, but not this year.

It shouldn’t be more than 11 songs on the album. They’ll be about 5 major collaborations on it and for now there’s no working title for the album.

Reekado Banks Releases Debut Album “Spotlight”

Mavin Records’ pop star Reekado Banks has unleashed his anticipated debut album titled “Spotlight”, after an exclusive listening event which took place last night in Lagos and had music industry giants in attendance.
The “Chop Am” crooner who has the Headie awards for “Rookie of the Year” and “Next Rated” in his curriculum vitae, is first act of the Mavin 2.0 trio to release a full body of work ahead of mega pop star Korede Bello and diva Di’Ja.
The lengthy 21 track set is entirely produced by Mavin in-house producers (Don Jazzy, Baby Fresh and Altims), and features collaborations with Falz, Sarkodie, Patoranking, Vanessa Mdee D’Prince and a skit with Kenny Blaq,

The Weeknd album (So Far)

After having a banner 2015 by ruling the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts with his smash hits "Can't Feel My Face" and "The Hills," Toronto singer The Weeknd has been spending this year grinding (and sleeping) in the studio to work on the follow-up to his second studio effort Beauty Behind the Madness (via Republic Records).
After experiencing massive success with Beauty, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200last September, the XO fan army has their fingers crossed that the falsetto-flaunting crooner (real name Abel Tesfaye) will churn out some more high notes on his next offering. Here is everything we know (so far) about The Weeknd's third album.

The Studio
A source tells Billboard that The Weeknd has been recording in Hollywood's Conway Studios, a super-private compound that has previously hosted acts like Dr. Luke, Katy Perry and Beyonce. The singer rented out the space, which sits right across from the Paramount Pictures studio, for at least three to four months and has sent some of the studio staff home so that he and his team can work privately.
The Collaborators
In a July interview with Billboard, Republic Records executive VP/head of urban A&R Wendy Goldstein revealed that the XO leader was logging studio time with masked electronic music duo Daft Punk "Actually, we have a session coming up in two days … with The Weeknd and Daft Punk,” she said. “I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan, and this is the first time that I’ve actually been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them.”
The Weeknd also shared a Facebook photo (Aug. 17) of miniature Daft Punk figurines on top of a speaker.In May, another A-lister, Justin Timberlake, teased that an XO-meets-JT track could happen. "[The Weeknd] and I have been talking about doing a collab," the Trolls soundtrack producer told BBC 1Xtra. "He’s working on an album right now. I don’t know if I was supposed to say that."
The Producers
The Weeknd told Vogue in May that he is reuniting with the production team responsible for his 2011 mixtape House of Balloons. "But it’s a new thing,” Tesfaye said simply. “Always a new thing.” The mood music master -- who was also featured of Beyonce's sultry Lemonade track "6 Inch," Rihanna's Anti cut "Woo" and Kanye West's Life of Pablo song "FML" -- also noted of his time in the studio, "Creatively, some magic is happening right now, and I don’t want to lose it."
The "Chapters"
The Weeknd often refers to his opuses as "chapters." In March, he shared a smoky selfie in a tweet that read, "chapter done soon. just let these pages flip." The upcoming album would be considered "Chapter IV," following the releases of 2012's Trilogy, 2013's Kiss Land and 2015's Beauty Behind the Madness.
According to Complex, The Weeknd's Twitter bio once read, “Chapter 1: Trilogy | Chapter 2: Kiss Land | Chapter 3."
