It’s official, Bobby Shmurda has been sentenced to seven years in state prison for weapons charges.
A Manhattan judge handed down the sentence for numerous charges he’s been facing since his December 2014 arrest. Multiple sources quote the GS9
rapper as saying, "I was forced to take this plea. I do not want to
take this plea," upon hearing his sentence. It’s a sentiment consistent
with an interview from last month where he claims he would’ve beaten the
case had he not have had to remain in prison after his arrest was made.
"If we made bail I would’ve beat the case," Shmurda told Complex
in September. "We look guilty in these orange jumpsuits. If you put Al
Sharpton in a orange jumpsuit and accuse him of having a gun, he’s going
to be found guilty."
According to Bobby’s lawyer Alex Spiro, his client
will actually be home in approximately 3.5 years since he already spent
two years behind bars awaiting a trial. Bobby Shmurda faced a 25 to life
bid had he been convicted of all the crimes he was being accused of,
which included a slew of weapons, drug and conspiracy charges in
conjunction with the arrests of other members of his GS9 gang. The rapper had previosuly pleaded not guilty.
